Review: Knaus Berry Farm

Even though I’ve lived in Miami for most of my life it hasn’t been since my recent move back here that I’ve started exploring the city. One of my first stops of course was Knaus Berry Farm. I have been hearing about this place for years and I have been craving their delicious gooey cinnamon rolls for just as long. I even tried to go a couple times but because they are only open seasonally I never got the opportunity. So when my boyfriend Dustin came to visit a couple weeks ago it felt like the perfect time to see what the hype was all about.

Before we even got to the farm, I could tell we were coming close because there were endless amounts of cars parked just off the road. After looking for a while we finally found a spot. It was a beautiful day out – just warm enough to want to cool off under the shade while enjoying some freshly picked berries and an all natural milkshake.

The farm was absolutely packed when we arrived and we could see a couple lines – some that even went around the corner. We decided to go in and check it out anyways, and let me tell you, were so glad we did.

Since the lines were long and there were a couple things we wanted to buy, we decided the best plan would be to go to the back where they had the Upick fields. These are fields with strawberries and tomatoes where you grab your own container and pick the fruits yourself.

I’m not a huge fan of tomatoes so we only picked strawberries. Every path was fragrant with the sweet aroma of strawberries – all of them gigantic and looked oh so delicious – and adorned by butterflies and bees swirling throughout. The prices were extremely reasonable and I got much more than I would get if we had bought strawberries at a local supermarket so we were very pleasantly surprised.

Next, we headed to the line for the bakery – inside you can find all sorts of baked goods and fresh produce. The line was insane, so Dustin decided to get us some milkshakes to enjoy while we waited in line. We slurped them down within minutes and barely spoke a word aside from the first 10 seconds when we both mentioned how delicious the shakes were.

We made sure to make a list of exactly what we wanted so that when we finally reached the front we would be ready to order – and to make sure we had enough cash on us because it’s the only from of payment accepted. We ended up getting: two dozen cinnamon rolls, a pack of cheesy bread rolls, a tray of pecan rolls and a jar of strawberry jelly.

To my delight everything wasn’t only as good as the pictures made it seem, but better. Seeing all the goods come fresh out of the oven and the Knaus family working together made the experience all the more enjoyable and best of all we spent just under $25.00.

Feeling extremely accomplished we got to enjoy the rest of the beautiful day, our goodies and each others company.
